Sometimes you don’t know what you don’t know and that’s why you can get started on something new without fear. It’s when we start learning about all the things we’re “supposed” to do that we get stuck.
I thought about starting Race4Girls last November with the idea that I would have all my ducks in a row before race season started in 2011. Had the logo created, talked to a few trusted advisors, researched how to start a company, created a map of the website and then it happened…
I got really nervous. What if this is a good idea? What happens if racing fans who believe women should have a stronger presence in the sport get excited and support this? Who will I have to be accountable to and what will they want to know? Am I willing to be transparent so I can build trust with folks who want to contribute?
Then something else happened. I waited. And waited. And waited. Literally 3 months. By early March I was kicking myself in the pants because I hadn’t done anything with the idea for so long. So I started listening to some motivational CDs in the car on the way to and from work. I got excited again!
And right after I got excited again I got laid off. Ah HA! Nothing like a nudge from God to get things moving! So here it is – the launch of Race4Girls. Engine started.
